Originally from the Washington, DC region, I graduated from Michigan State University as a member of the Honors College and the Global Educators Cohort Program with a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.A. in Spanish, and a minor in linguistics. After completing my student teaching internship at Owosso Middle School in Owosso, Michigan, I returned to teach 7th grade math at Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, DC.
After graduating from MSU and accepting my position at Alice Deal in 2016, I made the decision to continue my education by pursuing my Master's Degree in Education at Michigan State University. Since then, I have gotten married, traveled to Florida for the International Baccalaureate Global Conference, and flown to Seattle for a week of professional development with CPM and Desmos with fellow math teachers from across the country in their first five years of teaching. I've also made time to coach debate, hike through many of the beautiful parks in Maryland, and volunteer at the DC, Maryland, and National middle and high school Science Bowl competitions. My greatest interests as a teacher lie in equitable teaching practices, math for social justice, and developing engaging tasks that support conceptual understanding. |
